Treat as emergency

• Crushing or pressure-like chest pain lasting more than 10 minutes
• Pain spreading to the left arm, jaw or back
• Sudden cold sweat with breathlessness
• Fainting or near-fainting with chest discomfort

What to do

1. Call an ambulance immediately. Do not drive yourself.
2. If aspirin is at hand and there is no allergy, chew one 325 mg tablet.
3. Sit propped up, do not lie flat.
4. Note the time symptoms started. Tell the ambulance team.
5. If you are a current patient, the clinic line accepts emergency calls.

Avoid

• Do not wait for symptoms to pass on their own
• Do not eat heavy food
• Do not take a nitroglycerin without prior prescription
